Yes, it’s true. Sixteen years ago, I had a dream: to achieve financial freedom—no mortgage, no car payments, no debt.
Growing up in Southern California, I spent countless weekends at swap meets. I loved them as a kid. When I moved to Vancouver, Washington in 1979 at the age of 15, I noticed something was missing—there was nothing like the vibrant swap meets I had grown up with.
Fast forward to 2009, I had what seemed like a wild idea: to start an indoor swap meet. On April 16, 2009, we held our very first event. We launched with 275 booths, and I prayed hard the night before. God heard me. Over 3,500 people attended that first sale, known then as Portland’s Largest Garage Sale.
Two name changes and many successful events later, in 2014 we relocated across the river to the Clark County Event Center, where the event truly found its home. Every sale since has been a blessing—profitable, well-attended, and growing year after year.
Thanks to God’s continued favor and a lot of hard work, we have been financially free for many years. The business was started with zero debt and remains completely debt-free. It’s been a family effort from day one, and now, after years of growth and success, it’s time for us to retire and pass the torch.
